Throughout the year 2023, the academic community of USiena reflects on the theme "Esserə Umani".
Given that the Constitution declares 'the full development of the human person' (Article 3), the very notion of the 'human' is assuming, in the Third Millennium, new and unprecedented meanings. The supremacy exercised by humans over the environment and other living beings poses sustainability problems that can no longer be deferred; on the other hand, the relationship with machines and technologies, which are the primary tools through which this supremacy has been exercised, is also problematic.

In the humanities, for example, it intersects with issues related to the identity of the human being in relation to machines and the environment, or those concerning the representation of a hybrid reality, natural and artificial together. In the field of sciences, the theme is explored by delving into challenges related to artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnologies, as well as economic-social sustainability and inequalities.
The general theme lends itself to being developed in all research sectors active at USiena. In the humanities, for example, it intersects with issues related to the identity of the human being in relation to machines and the environment, or those concerning the representation of a hybrid reality, natural and artificial together. Liberi di Studiare
Liberi di Studiare
As part of the theme "Esserə Umani 2023," "Liberi di Studiare" is the podcast born on the occasion of Bright-Night and produced at the San Gimignano House of Detention by some collaborators from the University of Siena and the University for Foreigners of Siena. Over the course of the four episodes, a voice will be given to both students in the penitentiary facility and to educational tutors and educators of the institute who will illustrate the complex reality of education within the prison and how it can become one of the most powerful tools in maintaining and consolidating connections with the outside world.
